Machine Gun Kelly and Travis Barker have a new album on the way. It’s called Born With Horns, and just in case they forget that which they were born with, Kelly and Barker now have matching “born with horns” tattoos. Cute.
Announcing the album on social media, Kelly writes that he and Barker are “back for round two.” It’s a reference to last year’s Tickets to My Downfall, which was completely co-produced and co-written by Barker. Barker also played drums on all of the album’s 15 tracks and contributed keyboards, piano, guitar, synth, bass and programming.
As the close partnership with Barker might signal, Tickets to My Downfall was a departure from the rap-oriented sound of Kelly’s earlier work and a comprehensive embrace of ’90s and 00s pop punk sonics. Tickets to My Downfall was Kelly’s fifth studio album and it debuted atop the US Billboard 200 Albums Chart—his first album to do so.
Earlier this year, Barker and Kelly submitted a cover of Edwyn Collins’ ‘A Girl Like You’ to the Paradise City soundtrack. In April, Kelly released the track ‘Love Race’ featuring Sleeping With Sirens vocalist Kellin Quinn. Barker also co-wrote, co-produced and played drums on ‘Love Race’.
