Megadeth Drop Trailer For ‘Behind The Mask’ – And Yep, It’s Officially Hitting Aussie Cinemas

Thrash metal disciples, assemble. Megadeth have just unleashed the trailer for their upcoming global cinema event MEGADETH: BEHIND THE MASK, and the good news is it’s 100% confirmed for Aussie screens.

The two-night-only cinematic listening event lands on Thursday, 22nd January and Saturday, 24th January screening in more than 1,000 cinemas across 35+ countries – including a solid spread of Aussie sessions across Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.

It also drops on the eve of the band’s final studio album arriving on January 23rd, because apparently Megadeth don’t do things in half measures.

In Behind The Mask, frontman Dave Mustaine pulls the curtain back on 40 years of Megadeth, sharing untold stories from the band’s rise, fall and nuclear-powered resurgence – while fans get a full world-first listen to the new self-titled album in its entirety. The film blends a career-spanning interview with Mustaine’s own track-by-track breakdown of the band’s swansong LP, making it equal parts metal documentary and cinematic listening party.

And yeah, this really is the end of the road. As Mustaine previously put it: “I can’t wait to share it with thousands of my closest friends around the world… Now let’s fire this up… and pass the popcorn!”

In the lead-up, the band have already dropped two new tracks – ‘I Don’t Care’ and first single ‘Tipping Point’ – plus revealed a very spicy bonus cut: a reimagined version of ‘Ride The Lightning’, the Metallica classic Mustaine co-wrote back in 1984 with Hetfield, Burton and Ulrich. Thrash lore doesn’t get much heavier than that.

Australian screenings confirmed so far:

  • Melbourne – 5 cinemas
  • Sydney – 6 cinemas
  • Brisbane – 3 cinemas
  • Perth – 3 cinemas
  • Adelaide – 2 cinemas

Tickets are on sale now here (also search for the cinema closest to you), so if you want to witness Megadeth’s final chapter on the big screen with a room full of fellow metal diehards, get in quick.
