Melbourne Music Bank Announces 2016 Competition Winner

Bank Of Melbourne has crowned the winner of this year’s Melbourne Music Bank competition, with the accolades appropriately falling at the feet of Tempus Sun, hailing from Moonee Ponds.

The outfit impressed not only the general public, but a panel of judges with their original track Owls (below). Now, things are going to be kicked several gears up for the band, as they they claim over $60,000 worth of services for taking out top prize, including studio time, promotional services and the release of an EP.

Jac Phillips, Bank of Melbourne’s Head of Brand & Marketing, says, “Congratulations to Tempus Sun – six fantastic artists with a unique sound who’ve scored a terrific boost to their musical career. Influenced by Coldplay, Fleetwood Mac and Mumford & Sons, they bring all the feels and just make you want to boogie!”

Featuring more than 500 entries and 12 semi-finalists, it was no easy task for the general public to decide which four finalists best deserved the prize, before handing over the final call to the judges.

To see what all the fuss is about, you’ll be able to check out Tempus Sun in all their live glory at the upcoming Beyond The Valley festival — one of the many money-can’t-buy items the band took home in their Melbourne Music Bank prize.
