Meredith Music Festival Drops 2017 Dates & First Artist Announcement

UPDATE: The 2017 Meredith Music Festival lineup has now been unveiled in full.

ORIGINAL STORY: Your fave Aunty Meredith is inviting you back ’round for another musical clambake to usher in the summer season and she’s got some dates for you kids to pencil into your day planners.

Meredith Music Festival will toast its 27th year this December, returning to its usual haunt near Golden Plains in Victoria for a two day, three-night “4D Odyssey in the Supernaturalest Amphitheatre on Earth” on the 8th, 9th & 10th.

And what’s more, if you want to be there, the ticket ballot is officially OPEN.

The festival will return with all of its usual drawcards – no dickheads, BYO, camping under the stars, a complete absence of commercial sponsorship, and the “magical mix of music, nature and weird and wonderful humanity at its finest”.

As for the lineup, Aunty M has unveiled the very first act in the form of gothic acid-folk artist Aldous Harding, whom she describes as “a new sort of magnetic. Beyond mere performance”.

Last year’s blowout saw the likes of PeachesSheila E, BadBadNotGoodAngel Olsen, Kind Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and more.

It will be interesting to see if a petition spearheaded by Keep Sydney Open founder Tyson Koh to reunite legendary Aussie pop duo Savage Garden for this year’s event will bear any fruit. Unlikely though, since the band have expressed zero intentions of reuniting, *sigh*.

But we’ll find out for sure when the rest of the lineup comes “out out out out out sometime in August”.

As for RN, the Ticket Ballot is now open to all comers, new and old. Head to the official MMF website for details.
