We may yet live to see a Metallica and Foo Fighters supergroup emerge to shred our faces off, because respective band leaders Lars Ulrich and Dave Grohl have struck up a gentlemen’s agreement to perform together at some stage in the future.
It all went down on the latest episode of the Metallica tubthumber’s Beats 1 radio show It’s Electric!, while he was interviewing the Foos frontman about their respective music idols.
“You and I have never played together, so let’s do that… let’s play together one day,” Ulrich said, to which Grohl — channelling his inner Han Solo — replied, “I know!
“Well that’s the thing — you’re sitting there talking about like, ‘What’s it like to jam with all the people you’ve grown up listening to?’,” the head Foo continued.
“I wasn’t gonna come on here and f*ckin’ blow you on your own radio show, but ladies and gentleman, let me just tell you that if it weren’t for Metallica and Lars, I wouldn’t be doing what I do today.”
So there you have it, friends. There’s plenty of love between Foo Fighters and Metallica, and Foo-Tallica could perhaps, one day soon, be a thing.
