UPDATE (23/6/21): A previous version of this story said that Miley Cyrus was making a Metallica covers album. However, the album is actually the 30th anniversary reissue of Metallica’s self-titled album, otherwise known as The Black Album – Cyrus contributed to one cover, ‘Nothing Else Matters’.
Original Story:
Miley Cyrus has been slowly working on a Metallica covers album over the past few months, and now she’s revealed some of the all-star, and surprising, collaborators she’s linked up with for it.
Speaking to Capital Breakfast’s Roman Kemp in the UK, Cyrus revealed that – of all people – Sir Elton John has lent his deft touch to Cyrus’ version of one of the band’s most legendary songs.
“I did a Metallica cover of ‘Nothing Else Matters’ featuring Elton John on piano,” she explained.
“I’ve got Yo-Yo Ma, Chad Smith; so many all-stars. I’m so excited about this collaboration. I’m really stoked. I love when ingredients don’t quite fit.”
Given some of the collaborations Cyrus pulled off last year, this should come as no surprise. On her excellent 2020 album Plastic Hearts, she had linked up with the likes of Billy Idol, Joan Jett and Stevie Nicks.
Elton John recently linked up with another pop icon, Lady Gaga, last year for her most recent album, Chromatica.
