Miley Cyrus Named Disney Legend At A Emotional Ceremony

Miley Cyrus was honoured as a Disney Legend at a special ceremony during the D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim, California 31, over this weekend, Miley became the youngest person ever to receive the prestigious title.

Emotional and tearful, Miley addressed the audience, reflecting on her journey since her iconic role as Hannah Montana. She revealed that she had prepared two acceptance speeches: “One long, (for) the bada*s I’m supposed to be, and one short, if I get scared,” she joked, earning laughter and applause from the crowd.

Miley shared how playing Hannah Montana in 2005 profoundly impacted her life. “I had gotten a taste of what my life could be, and from that moment on, I did not want anything else. A little bit of everything has changed… but at the same time, nothing has changed at all. I stand here still proud to have been Hannah Montana,” she said. She dedicated the award to Hannah Montana and her loyal fans, adding, “To quote the legend herself, ‘This is the life.'”

The ceremony also honored other notable figures, including Angela Bassett, James L. Brooks, James Cameron, Jamie Lee Curtis, Harrison Ford, Kelly Ripa, and John Williams.

Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company, emphasized the significance of the Disney Legend Award, stating, “To be named a Disney Legend is the highest honor our company can bestow on anyone, reserved for those whose talent and achievement have earned them an enduring place in our history.” He praised the 14 honorees for their extraordinary contributions to Disney’s legacy.
