Monolith 2024: Coheed & Cambria, Periphery + More

Monolith has returned for its second iteration, set to take place this coming November across three east-coast dates. The progressive metal-oriented mini-festival will be headlined by a special performance from Coheed & Cambria, who will play their 2005 album Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness in its entirety on the eve of its 20th anniversary. A full run of dates, as well as line-up and ticketing information, can be found below.

Coheed have not toured Australia in over eight years, having last visited in May 2016 in support of their eighth studio album The Color Before the Sun. Since then, the band have released a two-part effort titled Vaxis. Act I: The Unheavenly Creatures was released in 2018, while Act II: A Window of the Waking Mind followed in 2022.

Joining the band on the line-up are American djent quintet Periphery, themselves returning after over seven years away, as well as Norway’s Leprous returning for the first time since 2018. Canadian prog-metal band Intervals, meanwhile, will also return to Australia as part of the line-up – having last been seen circa September 2018 on a co-headlining tour with Polyphia.

Monolith first launched in 2022, headlined by Karnivool and Cog. In a review of the festival’s Melbourne leg, Music Feeds praised the former’s “epic headlining set” for its “many mood shifts”. “It was a celebratory way to end a day of prog rock and metal prowess,” it concluded.
