English heavy legends Motörhead are set to play Coachella Festival 2014, with Lemmy Kilmister and company confirmed for the bill of the much-loved festival, which takes place in the Californian desert between April 11-13 and April 18-20.
The news of their appearance was announced by Coachella on Twitter, with the festival organisers posting a picture of a giant playing card – the ace of spades, duh – with both the name of the band and the festival. They also posted a live video of the trio playing Ace Of Spades on the event’s website.
The announcement indicates that all is well with the health of notorious frontman Lemmy, who was forced to cancel tour dates after undergoing surgery following a haematoma, as well as having an implantable cardioverter-defribullator (ICD) installed to address heart problems.
But that didn’t stop Motörhead from releasing their 21st studio album, Aftershock, in 2013, just the latest a career that’s spanned almost 40 years. Lemmy has also promised a solo album in 2014, which will have collaborations with Dave Grohl, Joan Jett and Reverend Horton Heat.
Next on the Coachella announcement train is surely Outkast, with Andre ’3000′ Benjamin and Antwan ‘Big Boi’ Patton all but confirmed to reunite for the festival.
