MS Fest 2012 Cancelled – Another Festival Cancellation

Tasmania’s MS Fest has been cancelled due to poor ticket sales. The festival would have taken place this weekend at the T.C.A Showgrounds in Hobart, and had a line-up which included Roots Manuva, Matt Corby, Little Red, Bluejuice, Fat Freddy’s Drop and San Cisco.

Those who purchased tickets will receive a refund on their tickets. OzTix automatically refund straight to the credit card that tickets were purchased on, tickets purchased from an outlet can be returned to the outlet for a refund.

The following statement was released by The MS Society of Tasmania.

“The MS Society of Tasmania has announced that MSFest at the TCA Ground has been cancelled.

The MS Fest was to be staged at the TCA ground on March 3. We were working toward two separate Mini-festival shows to be staged at Princes Wharf 1 on March 3. This option is, however, not going to work given the short time frame.

Those who purchased tickets for the TCA will receive a refund on these tickets. OzTix will automatically refund to the credit card that tickets were purchased on, tickets purchased from an outlet can be returned to the outlet for a refund. Additionally, MS Society of Tasmania will ensure that contractors to MS Fest will be paid.

“ We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused by the change, but as a Charity we needed to be financially responsible. This summer we have been hit by a perfect storm of serious problems that have made the event unviable said Dale Eastley, CEO of MS TAS.

“ We were relying on significant numbers of gate sales on the day but, to make matters worse, the forecast for the end of this week indicates wet weather putting last minute ticket sales at risk.

The cost of an outdoor, multi-stage festival is enormous. MS TAS cannot risk the crucial services it provides to the Tasmania community by going ahead with either event as planned” said Mr. Eastley.

The Society would like to express their appreciation and thanks to management, staff, contractors and all involved who worked tirelessly to see this event through.”
