Who doesn’t love Rock N Roll, garage rock and burlesque? MUM at World Bar are knocking it up a notch this Friday night, satisfying your needs for all three.
The Delta Riggs have come down from the mountains with their in-your-face rock n roll courtesy of the gravely vocals of lead singer Elliots Hammond.
They will be supported by Papa Vs Pretty who are not too long away from releasing an EP, and Fear Of Monsters become another in the long list of cool bands from Newcastle to play at MUM including The Seabellies, The Protectors and last week’s more than capable indie rockers Long Island Sound.
After a solid month of touring and now a month of residency at MUM the guys from The Shake Up have got their super energetic set locked down and will deliver at 2am for the second time this month.
Upstairs at MUM there is going to be a Horror Beach Party as LeeRoy MacQueen and The Gussets wind things back fifty years (stay tuned for our interview with them in the next day or two). They will be supported by Myth & Tropics, who are the perfect soundtrack to the beaten up diner you stop at in the middle of the Mojave desert in your giant red shark. Then there is Dark Bells who will play some garage for your hairy ears.
And the burlesque? No, it’s not bar manager Colin at 3.41am with his pants around his ankles waddling across Bayswater Rd, it is Baby Blue Bergman (in what she’s described as a ‘Cleopatra appearance’). Inspired by silver screen beauties, she has Marilyn’s curves, Ingrid’s classic beauty and Kathryn Hepburn’s spunk… after they discovered The Cramps and Tom Waits’ gutter blues.
You cant have a spliff without the roach, you can’t have unidentified powdery substances without a rolled up note and you can’t have stupid dancing fun without your favourite MUM DJs who this week include:
Walkie Talkie, Skully Boo, Lloyd, Sammy K, DiDidoesFiFi, Kitty Monroe and FBi Radio hosts Sweetie, Shag and Jack Shit.
Plus MUM has your weekly escape into club land La Discoteca on level one with the usual latino party machine 16 Tacos and a very special guest from Disco Punx, Luke Yeah; both taking no prisoners nor requests (so there!).
MUM presented by Throwshapes.com.au every Friday at The World Bar.
