Neil Finn Signs Deal With Kobalt Group

Antipodean lord of songwriting Neil Finn has signed a new deal with music administration company Kobalt Music Group.

In a pretty major coup for Kobalt, they will now represent Finn’s entire back catalogue in the US and Canada, which takes in all of Crowded House, Split Enz, the Finn Brothers and his pair of solo releases. In Australia, they will work with all that minus the two Finn Brothers albums and the two Crowded House albums  since they reformed in 2007 (Time On Earth and Intriguer).

The Music Network has 52-year-old Finn quoted as saying, “I’m delighted to have my songs being cared for by the good folk at Kobalt. They clearly love my songs and want to tell the world about it. I couldn’t ask for more… except perhaps the closing credits of the new Coen Brothers movie.”

Finn joins the likes of Iva Davies, Roxette, Adam Lambert, Pearl Jam, No Doubt and Art vs Science with Kobalt..

Willard Ahdritz, CEO and Founder of Kobalt Music Group said, “We’re really excited about working with Neil and his repertoire globally… Our Kobalt teams are working together globally to generate new sync activity for Neil in all areas including film, TV, advertising, games and other mediums. We hope this is just the beginning of more opportunities for him worldwide.”

Kobalt will also be on board for Finn’s solo work, including the next Crowded House album and the forthcoming album under the moniker Pajama Party, a project with wife Sharon.

In other news, Finn teamed up with Paul Kelly for an Anzac Day show at the Red Hill Auditorium in Perth on Monday, where he wheeled out such classics as Only Talking Sense, One Step Ahead, I Got You, World Where You Live, Better Be Home Soon and Don’t Dream It’s Over, along with more recent tracks such as Silent House and Anytime.

The two veterans even shared the stage to perform Kelly’s Leaps and Bounds and Crowded House’s Four Seasons In One Day.
