Perth-based collectives Metric and ICSSC are continuing their crusade to prove Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah, who proclaimed back in January that WA would soon be receiving “zero festivals,” wrong with their Circo Festival now boasting the likes of Ryan Hemsworth and L D R U.
Following a wildly successful inaugural year in 2013, which saw 1,000 tickets move within the first hour of hitting sale, the sophomore edition of Circo Festival is delivering the event’s most sterling lineup yet, featuring the likes of Kele, Violent Soho, DMA’s, Nina Las Vegas, Odesza, and more.
The organisers’ plan to turn Circo II into the “ultimate party destination” will now get a huge boost from Canadian Ryan Hemsworth, who at just 23 years old has been hailed as the embodiment of the future of hip-hop, crafting a sound that is nestled somewhere between chillwave and trap.
Meanwhile, L D R U aka Drew Carmody has become a hot commodity in his own right. The 19-year-old producer has spent months busy in the studio working on beats that receive over 100,000 plays on SoundCloud, remixing New Zealand superstar Lorde, as well as packing out East Coast clubs.
And having recently received the official stamp of approval from Splendour In The Grass organisers, 21-year-old Max Armata aka Yahtzel is poised to become the next young star in the ever-expanding Australian EDM scene, with his chilled cut Girls even making it onto BBC Radio.
