Punters who missed out on tickets to Splendour In The Grass 2014 amidst all the disruptions to the online sales will get another chance to attend the Byron Bay festival, with organisers announcing additional tickets will be available for purchase next week.
Hoping to ease the disparity between supply and demand, Splendour organisers and the venue, North Byron Parklands, applied for a capacity increase of 2,500 tickets for Splendour In The Grass 2014, which has just been approved.
The Moshtix website became the victim of an unauthorised hacking when the first batch of Splendour tickets went on sale early last month, with social media exploding with angry buyers complaining of being charged ticket fees in excess of $1000.
In the aftermath of the disruption, Moshtix chief Harley Evans said he did not believe that this “prank” was a result of Moshtix, one of the country’s most trusted ticket retailers, “under-investing in security.”
He also added that there was no link between the incident and punters missing out on tickets, which was due instead to unprecedented demand. The additional tickets will be released for sale at 9am sharp AEST on Thursday 12th June through Moshtix and will be a mixture of three day, single day and camping tickets.
And the unlucky few who miss out again, will still have another chance to get their hands on a ticket using Splendour’s Re-sale facility, which gives ticket-holders who can no longer attend the show, the opportunity to offload their ticket to someone who missed out.
The Re-sale will kick into action via Moshtix from 9am AEST Monday 16th June. Once the additional ticket release from Thursday 12 June is sold out, the Re-sale facility is the only other place where you can purchase legitimate tickets for Splendour In The Grass 2014.
Organisers have warned punters not to purchase tickets from online auction sites. Splendour tickets include the name and date of birth of the purchaser, which is checked against an ID at the festival gates.
The festival will take place Friday 25th to Sunday 27th July at North Byron Parklands. Other acts to features on the Outkast-led roster include US rapper Childish Gambino, UK’s London Grammar, and Aussie hip-hop stars Hilltop Hoods. Check out the full lineup here.
