Spotify and Tinder are officially a match made in heaven. The two companies have teamed up to create a new Tinder feature called Music Powered by Spotify, which lets you see if your matches dig the same music as you.
As a Tinder user, you’ll be able to broadcast your fave song of the moment so that other Tinder users who share your taste in music can swipe right and check you out. You don’t even need a Spotify account to do this, but if you do have one you can also suss out how many fave artists you and your potential soulmate have in common.
Here’s how it works:
- Search Spotify for your Anthem, aka the song that defines you the most at the moment
- Head to your Tinder profile settings and connect to Spotify
- Select which of your Spotify artists you’d like to display on your Tinder profile
- Get swiping to see who shares your awesome taste in music
And seriously, who cares about lifestyle, character traits, jobs or mutual friends now that your taste in music (obvs the most important trait of ’em all) can find you true love?
This new feature is rolling out from today, which means your future husband, wife or f*ck buddy could be serenading you at this very moment. Go forth, and check out Music Powered by Spotify in the video below.
This isn’t the first time match-makers have turned to musical taste to bring lone flying love-birds together. Female-led dating company Bumble teamed up with Spotify earlier this year to do just that, and last year Mix’d launched, which uses the music preferences that you enter into the app to find you a potential like minded listener-slash-lover.
