Newcastle’s LOONS Share Heartfelt Alt-Rock Anthem, ‘Money Honey’

Mulubinba/Newcastle-based collective LOONS have just loosed a brand new single dubbed ‘Money Honey’. Produced by Jack Nigro (Pacific Avenue, The Terrys, DICE), the anthemic track is packing a nostalgic noughties alt-rock feel, steeped in raw emotion.

As the band explain in a press statement, ‘Money Honey’ was inspired by a personal tale of heartbreak after love was discarded for money.

LOONS – ‘Money Honey’

“Elijah wrote it at a time when he felt that his world was collapsing around him and his partner at the time had seemingly changed her priorities and values in the relationship to achieve financial success,” LOONS explain.

“After much work, the song came together and each member wrote fresh parts on their selected instruments to change what had been a raw acoustic song into an indie rock anthem.”

Inspired by the likes of Spacey Jane, Lime Cordiale and Arctic Monkeys, the band met at a young age, sharing that: “We all jammed together as kids, playing in multiple ensembles and bands. Bailey and Elijah are childhood best mates and grew up playing together, gaining a really strong musical connection. Ely played in many bands and found himself in a couple of Elijah’s early projects throughout their teen years.”
