No “Comfort Zone” At Soundwave This Weekend

The long-hyped, little-detailed “Comfort Zone” at this year’s Soundwave Festival has been canned, for Melbourne and Adelaide at least, despite appearing on the festival’s site maps published earlier this week.

The scheme was originally meant to provide a comfortable, exclusive rest area for patrons at all stops on the festival’s tour, including this weekend, but promoter AJ Maddah now says the comfort zone will appear in “Sydney and Brisbane only”. The Sydney and Brisbane events take place next weekend.

Maddah put the Comfort Zone’s absence from this weekend’s Soundwave festivals down to planning permissions. He also said that despite his previous comments about the area being open only to those 35 and older, and then 30 and up, the Comfort Zone will now be 18+.

Over the last few weeks, Maddah has been spruiking some of the Comfort Zone’s potential amenities, including good coffee provided by baristas, cakes, bar service and comfortable bathroom amenities. Despite this, there has been no formal announcement of the Comfort Zone so far confirming what will be available.

According to the promoter, advance tickets to the Sydney and Brisbane Comfort Zones will be on sale through the festival website sometime this week. Punters are advised to buy tickets in advance as amenities will be provided based on advance sales figures. Pre-purchased tickets will need to be printed at home. The price of the tickets are not yet known.

Soundwave kicks off today in Adelaide and Melbourne. See set times and maps below.
