New Zealand rapper Scribe has handed himself into police after a warrant was issued for his arrest on drugs and weapons charges (but not many, if any. Well, not many at least).
The hitmaker became a Wanted Man after allegedly skipping out on a court date in Christchurch, where he was due to answer for charges of possession of an offensive weapon (a bat), possession of Class A drug (amphetamine), and possession of a pipe for using amphetamine, following his initial arrest back in April.
As Stuff.co.nz reports, after going on the lam, the 38-year-old MC — real name Malo Luafutu — has since turned himself in.
“Malo Luafutu has made contact with the court in regard to his outstanding warrant to arrest,” police said in a statement. “He has been instructed to return to the Porirua District Court [on Thursday]. Luafutu is no longer wanted.”
Scribe last performed in Australia in 2015 as part of the ‘Beat The Heat’ festival, after his iconic 2003 baller anthem ‘Not Many’ was famously covered by hip-hop collective One Day for triple J’s Like A Version (below).
