There Are Now Two Aussies Through To The Eurovision Grand Final

The stakes just got raised for this year’s Eurovision Grand Final, because it’ll now pit Aussie against Aussie in a bound-to-be-epic final showdown.

The feathers, glitter and sequins will be flying when homegrown hero Isaiah Firebrace (who made it through to the final earlier this week) faces off in the song competition’s big decider against his county-woman Anja Nissen, who just won through to the GF in this morning’s second semi-final, representing her native Denmark.

The 21-year-old — who was born and raised in Sydney and took out The Voice Australia back in 2014 — delivered a huge performance of her song ‘Where I Am’ to huge cheers, telling News Corp, “It means so much to me. It feels like I have really been accepted by my country having an Australian background and Danish heritage.

“I have been lucky to be accepted by both of my homelands.”

Denmark advanced to the final round alongside Bulgaria, Belarus, Croatia, Hungary, Israel, Romania, Norway, The Netherlands and Austria following this morning’s semi, joining Moldova, Azerbaijan, Greece, Sweden, Portugal, Poland, Armenia, Cyprus, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, host country Ukraine and — of course — Australia in the spectacular final round of the competition.

It airs on SBS from 5am on Sunday, 14th May and again at 7:30pm on the same day, and will be hosted by Myf Warhurst and Joel Creasey.
