Talk about a combo.
Since the 1970s, the iconic Patti Smith – musician, poet and author – has established herself as most one of the most unique figures in contemporary music and art with albums like Horses and Easter to books like M Train and Just Kids.
This April, Smith is headed to Australia to perform as part of Bluesfest as well as a handful of headline shows, and there’s now one more reason to get excited about her upcoming visit.
While she’s in the country, Smith will be doing an “in conversation” event in Sydney hosted by none other than songwriter and national treasure Paul Kelly, where she’ll be discussing her latest book Year of the Monkey, which chronicles her year of wandering the road, “from Southern California to the Arizona desert, from the Kentucky farm of a friend in crisis to the hospital room of a valued mentor.”
The two legends will explore the nature of loss and ageing, catastrophe, political grief, and the hope of a better world.
The event will take place at Sydney Town Hall on Wednesday, 8th April. Tickets are on sale now, with each including a copy of Year of the Monkey.
