Paul McCartney will induct Foo Fighters into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame later this month.
The 2021 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony is set to take place on Saturday, 30th October at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse arena in Cleveland, Ohio. It’ll be Foo Fighters leader Dave Grohl’s second induction into the Hall Of Fame, after making it as a member of Nirvana in 2014.
Foo Fighters’ induction comes in their first year of eligibility; i.e. 25 years after the release of their first record. Jay Z, Carole King, Tina Turner, The Go-Go’s and Todd Rundgren will also be inducted at next week’s ceremony. Taylor Swift will speak ahead of King’s induction and Drew Barrymore for The Go-Go’s, while Paul McCartney will be on hand to induct Foo Fighters.
Grohl and McCartney have become very chummy in recent years. McCartney appeared in Grohl’s 2013 documentary, Sound City. Together with former Nirvana members Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear, they wrote and recorded the song ‘Cut Me Some Slack’. It was produced by Nevermind producer Butch Vig, leading some—McCartney included—to label it a “Nirvana reunion”.
McCartney also made an appearance on Foo Fighters’ 2017 album, Concrete and Gold, playing drums on the song, ‘Sunday Rain’. Earlier this month, Grohl told The Graham Norton Show of the time McCartney popped over for wine and pizza and ended up teaching Grohl’s daughter how to play a song on piano.
