UPDATE: Warped Australia 2013 lineup here now! Check it out!
Vans Warped Tour Australia promoter AJ Maddah has revealed that Perth will get sideshows from bands appearing on the 2013 line up for the festival, despite previously stating there would be no sideshows at all.
This will come as welcome news to Western Australians missing the Warped love, as the festival proper will not be making the trip across the Nullabor, kicking off in Brisbane at the RNA Showgrounds on 29th November and terminating in Adelaide on 8th December.
Earlier this week, Maddah partly blamed the WA state government for holding Perth back as a viable destination for live alternative music, especially festivals.
“State laws have made it just about impossible to do all-ages shows,” he said. “A whole couple of generations of kids have missed out on going to shows when they’re young [and] therefore have grown up being into shit music, quite frankly.”
“Perth is great for P!nk and what have you, but it’s not so good for punk rock,” he added. Looks like he’s trying his luck yet again.
Just last night, Simple Plan self-confirmed their Warped Australia appearance by teasing a large announcement set to be revealed tomorrow night, pointing fans towards triple j after 10pm – the same details for the Warped Tour line up announcement.
Unfortunately for Simple Plan fans, although Maddah himself has now confirmed the band will be at Warped Tour, he’s also categorically stated that Simple Plan will not be performing sideshows. So we don’t know specifically which bands will be playing sideshows, but we do know that the only band confirmed for the line up will not be going to WA.
The Vans Warped Tour Australia 2013 line up is set to be announced this evening after 10pm, and tickets are expected to go on sale next Thursday, 18th July for the moderate price of $99 + bf.
In the meantime, check out the brand-new names on our fully revised rumours and leaks list, and brush up on your Warped Tour history to find out exactly what’s in store come November.
