Phil Rudd Wants His Job With AC/DC Back

Troubled Australian drummer Phil Rudd has declared he wants to reclaim his job with AC/DC and has vowed he will get it back despite facing charges of threatening to kill and drug possession in New Zealand.

“I’m going back to work with AC/DC, and I don’t care who likes it and who doesn’t,” Rudd told New Zealand’s One News. “I want my job back, I want my reputation back and I’m gonna get it back. I’m gonna fucking take it back.”

Speaking out for the first time since his arrest, Rudd described the initial charges laid against him as “ludicrous”, particularly the initial one of attempting to procure the murders of two people which was dropped within 24 hours due to insufficient evidence.

“This has just been a big ball of cheese, and all the rats are gathering and having a piece. That’s just life. But that’s not who I am,” Rudd said. “Everyone listens to the wrong people. They should listen to me. I’m a good guy – and a pretty good drummer, by the way. Ask Angus [Young], he’ll tell you.”

The drummer’s position in the AC/DC remains unclear though the band have reaffirmed that Rudd’s situation will have no effect on their plans to tour the new album Rock Or Bust in the new year. In interviews since the arrest the band have attempted to distance themselves from their drummer, with guitarist Angus Young stating “that the guy needs to sort himself out”.

Rudd has pleaded not guilty to the drugs and threatening to kill charges, the latter of which which carries a jail sentence of up to seven years. He is due back in court on February 10th, 2015, but outlined his most immediate plans to the television station. “I’m going fishing today, flying this afternoon and lots of fornicating tonight.”

AC/DC’s Rock or Bust tour will kick off in Europe on May 5th, 2015 in Arnhem, Holland, meaning a decision on Rudd’s role in the band will have to be made soon.
