PJ Harvey has announced she’ll reissue her fifth studio album, Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea, next month via UMe/Island. It’s the latest in the singer-songwriter’s ongoing archival project, which has seen her reissue several albums from across her back catalogue including ‘Dry’, ‘Rid of Me’, ‘To Bring Your Love’ and ‘Is This Desire?’.
Produced by Harvey herself alongside Rob Ellis and the Bad Seeds’ Mick Harvey Stories from the City… was released in 2000. Upon its release it marked one of Harvey’s most widely-acclaimed albums, remaining one of the English musician’s most respected works.
Set to arrive Friday, 26th February, the reissue will be released alongside a previously unreleased demos collection which will feature early versions of every song on the album.
To coincide with the announcement, Harvey has shared an early demo of album track ‘This Mess We’re In’. It’s a considerably sparser version of the song than the final, Thom Yorke-featuring track that featured on the album, but it’s no less stunning.
