For the first time in two long decades British alternative rockers Pop Will Eat Itself have announced they will be returning to Australia and will be playing a stack of shows this coming August/September.
The Birmingham rockers made a name for themselves in the late ’80s UK alternative rock scene with their high energy, industrial tinged dance and rock anthems, pioneering the Grebo movement along with such musical contemporaries as Ned’s Atomic Dustbin, Jesus Jones, and The Wonder Stuff.
When in 1996 founding member Clint Mansell called it quits to work on his award winning soundtrack career (The Wrestler, Black Swan), all remained quiet on the Poppies front, until a recent reunion.
The reinvigorated PWEI lineup that will hit out shores this spring include original member Graham Crabb, legendary vocalist Mary Byker, drumming powerhouse Jason Bowld and Gary Numan’s guitarist Tim Muddiman. Can U Dig It?
All tickets are $59 plus booking fee and go on sale Friday, 20th June at 9am via Metropolis Touring. Strictly limited VIP meet and greet packages are available for Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne & Auckland shows.
