Gold Coast based, upbeat indie-pop kids Ivey are thrilled to unveil their brand new single Last Week with an exclusive stream for Music Feeds today, so you can catch a sneaky listen ahead of its official release this coming Friday.
Ivey have had a huge year, with lashings of love from triple j, Unearthed and a string of amazing support slots with Delta Riggs, Tired Lion and Art of Sleeping.
Juggling the school books by day and playing sold out shows by night, Ivey are well and truly living the teen dream, and these kids only seem to be heading in one direction: up, up, up.
Following on from their previous single All Things Good, this new tune marks a momentous step towards a more refined sound for the band. Singer-guitarist Lachie McGuffie explains:
“Last Week feels very different for all of us as a band. I wrote it three months ago, about falling in love quick, fast and beautifully. The song was all tracked live, we wanted to emulate our live shows, which are filled with energy, into our recording, and all the while keeping a familiar Ivey sound. This is definitely the song we are the most proud of.”
Anyone who has ever fallen hard for someone within moments of meeting them will most definitely resonate with Last Week. It’s infectious and danceable, brimming with shimmering guitars, a story-telling call and response between Millie and Lachlan, and an upbeat hooky chorus. This will make a lovely addition to your summer soundtrack.
