Sydney four-piece New Empire recently released their third studio album In A Breath, chock full of radio-ready indie guitar anthems, and today Music Feeds is lucky enough to be premiering the video for the band’s latest single, Fallen Soldiers.
In A Breath follows up New Empire’s 2011 release Symmetry, which garnered attention on both a national and global scale. The band went on to land support slots with the likes of Owl City, Neon Trees, Good Charlotte and Simple Plan, as well as a position on Vans Warped Tour Australia last year.
Since their formation in their beachside hometown of Cronulla, New Empire have amassed a loyal following thanks to their stadium-ready rock. Set in a dark and daunting forest, according the band, the Fallen Soldiers video aims to prompt viewers into questioning the things they are running from in life.
“The video clip portrays that what we are running from (the ‘dark figure/shadow’) could be anything in life,” explain the band. “From depression, to betrayal, to hurt, to loneliness, confusion etc. Sometimes we have a light to guide us, sometimes a map to direct us, or sometimes we are just going through this with a friend by our side.”
“As long as we keep moving, we will eventually make it out to the other side, to something we may have never expected or hoped for. We wanted to create something visually stunning, in terms of cinematography, and hopefully that comes across on screen,” they continue. It was definitely a fun one to do, although standing in a cold forest at 3am in the morning was testing.”
