Primavera Sound Lineup Revealed Via Short Film ‘Line-Up’

Barcelona’s Primavera Sound festival has revealed it’s 2014 lineup, delivering a harsh reminder of Australia’s crippling geographical isolation. Headliners include Nine Inch Nails, Disclosure, Queens Of The Stone Age, Neutral Milk Hotel, Pixies and Kendrick Lamar.

The festival took a unique approach to unveiling the bill, using the form of a 26-minute short film, Line-Up, which was screened across Spain and online today. Filmed and set in Detroit, the clip starts in the legendary Found Sound record shop, with the lineup artists revealed through flashes of posters, vinyl covers and t-shirts donned by the actors.

The story follows a record store owner’s adventures through the decrepit city after a mystery man in a hat leaves a vinyl on his door-step. “[It’s] a movie about how life turns around in a loop, just like a record,” founder Pablo Soler told Billboard. The lead character even attempts to make his way to a Pixies concert at one point.

Five Australian acts have also found their way onto the Spanish festival bill. Indie electro darlings Cut Copy have nabbed a top spot on the bill. As has fellow Melburnian Courtney Barnett, the 25-year-old singer known for her hit Avant Gardener.

Representing Sydney will be dance rock duo Jagwar Ma while our west coast contingents will be Perth’s psychedelic rockers Pond. Also performing is legendary Aussie guitarist and former Bad Seed Mick Harvey, who will perform a tribute to French icon Serge Gainsbourg.

Other Primavera Sound acts Arcade Fire, Chvrches, Haim and a bunch of others that will get you booking those last-minute flights quick smart. The 14th annual Primavera Sound Festival will take place on May 29-31 at Barcelona’s waterfront Parc del Fòrum.
