Public Enemy have indefinitely postponed their upcoming national tour of Australia, which was set to begin in a matter of days in Perth on Wednesday night (October 2nd) with special guests A.B. Original. The announcement came today (September 30th), with the group’s frontman Chuck D revealing that he has been placed under doctor’s orders to undergo emergency eye surgery.
“I’m sorry to make you wait a little longer,” he said in a press statement, “but I need to get this eye surgery done so I can really rock the house for you and Bring The Noise. Stay tuned for the new dates.” All ticket holders will be contacted as soon as new dates are confirmed for the tour. However, for those that do not wish to hold onto their tickets and would like a refund, they are invited to fill out a form via Ticketek here.

Public Enemy’s return to Australia was intended to belatedly continue the group’s 35th anniversary celebrations. Ironically, if the tour ends up going ahead in 2025 then it will be in time for the group’s 40th anniversary – having originally formed out of New York City in 1985.
