In one of the oddest collaborations since A$AP Rocky teamed up with Rod Stewart, Purity Ring‘s Corin Roddick is working with Nick Jonas.
Jonas is currently recording for his third studio album since breaking away from his family band The Jonas Brothers. “Amazing session tonight with Corin from one of my favorite groups @PURITY_RING tonight,” Jonas tweeted. “Can’t wait for you all to hear this new music.”
The pair’s new tunes are sure to be interesting given that Purity Ring’s music has always dabbled in pop in the most subtle of ways, while Jonas’ Jealous was one of 2014’s most immediate pop tracks. We’re secretly hoping that Jonas comes into Roddick’s world rather than the other way around.
As Stereogum point out, it’s an appropriate collaboration given that Jonas was once known for wearing a Purity Ring before he decided against that and went and, you know, lost his virginity.
As far as we can tell, this is the first time Roddick has gone into the studio with a big pop name. Recently, plenty of alternative artists have been crossing over into the mainstream world, though. Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij wrote a song for the new Carly Rae Jepsen album and Cashmere Cat popped up on Ariana Grande’s most recent LP My Everything.
Purity Ring were recently here for Splendour In The Grass and will supposedly be back in the country next year for Laneway Festival.
