Someone on R&B star R. Kelly‘s management team (likely) got fired today, as a Twitter Q&A session organised to promote the ever-controversial artist’s upcoming twelfth solo studio album, Black Panties, went just as one would expect it to, i.e. lots of questions about urinating on minors.
What Woody Guthrie was to politicised folk songs, R. Kelly is to dirty bedroom jams, however it’s his legal troubles, namely charges of engaging in sex with a minor before urinating on her, on video, that will follow Kelly to his gold-trimmed grave, even overshadowing his ridiculous hip-hopera.
Other fan questions pertained to Kelly’s ridiculous manner of dress, which at times has included a lime green schoolboy ensemble complete with backpack, while one very cerebral tweeter asked the R&B star, “Do you agree with Voltaire’s criticism of Leibnizian optimism in Candide?”
