Courtney Love has commemorated the holiday season with a heartfelt Instagram post addressed to her late husband, Kurt Cobain.
The grunge queen shared an archival holiday photo of the couple with their then-infant daughter, Frances Bean, saying the snap captured a moment when she felt “on top of the world”.
She thanked the Nirvana frontman for giving her “our incredibly talented, loving, beautiful and gifted daughter Frances Bean Cobain”, whom she also described as “the gift that makes life worth living”.
“I’m grateful to have ever experienced that moment,” she said.
“Merry Christmas Kurt, the greatest true love I’ve ever experienced in my life.”
It’s been a sentimental year for Love, who posted another emotional tribute to Kurt back in August in honour of Frances Bean’s birthday.
Sadly though, Frances Bean was not feeling the love, and married her own rocker boyfriend in a private ceremony the very next month without inviting her mum.
2015 was a big year for Kurt Cobain fans as well. Not only were we gifted with the definitive Cobain documentary Montage Of Heck and an accompanying album of the grunge legend’s rare home recordings, Nirvana diehards were also given the opportunity to bid on some of Kurt’s old things at auction, with the manky green cardi he once wore on MTV Unplugged going for a whopping AUD$200,000.
And for the conspiracy buffs, another Cobain-themed doco called Soaked In Bleach was released, in which Seattle’s former police chief controversially called for Kurt’s death to be re-investigated.
Needless to say, Love was not too impressed with the non-Montage Of Heck doco (which explores the popular conspiracy theory that she masterminded Kurt’s death and made it look like a suicide) and consequently threatened to sue all the cinemas screening it.
