That’s right kiddies, the world renowned four-day musical extravaganza that is the Red Bull Music Academy Weekender is landing in Sydney this September. A city wide takeover of curatorial programming and signature live music events, public art lectures, club nights and exhibitions, this is very much something to get excited about.
An all-out inclusive party in celebration of what makes Sydney’s cultural heart beat, from September 8th to 11th, the harbour city will join the ranks of previous host cities such as Tokyo, Vienna, Warsaw and Stockholm.
Shining a global spotlight on local artists and industry figures behind the city’s best loved cultural institutions, the weekender aims to uplift the city’s creative scene and they couldn’t have picked a better time to do it.
While the Red Bull Music Academy is making a big plunge into Sydney with this event, it’s hardly the first time they’ve dipped their toes in the warm waters of the city. Hosting some wet and wild club shows and with the likes of Clark, Onra, Romare and Taylor McFerrin over recent years, the academy has been building its presence here slowly but surely, the weekender being the culmination of all that work.
With a special preview line-up announcement due next week on the Tuesday 26th April, the full lineup is set to be announced in June so stay tuned for more news.
