Red Bull Music Academy’s Australian Weekender Festival Is Back For 2017

UPDATE 11/06/17: RBMA have unveiled the lineup for the forthcoming 2017 edition of their Australian Weekender Festival.

ORIGINAL STORY: Red Bull Music Academy (RBMA) has announced the return of its Sydney Weekender festival, after last year’s inaugural event hosted the likes of Larry Heard, Gigi Masin and Flight Facilities (with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra).

The RBMA Weekender will return to Sydney between August and September with a new collection of curated performances, conversations, club nights and audio-visual installations, but — before all that even happens — RBMA is taking its Weekender artists around the country on an Aussie tour dubbed ‘Road To Weekender’.

The tour will hit Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane in late August, ahead of the RBMA Weekender events in Sydney.

RBMA Weekender 2016 saw over 40 artists take part in 11 events across four days around Sydney, including the likes of Ta-ku, Jonti, Marcus Whale, Kučka and Kilo Kish.

Organisers are promising another “inclusive celebration and exploration of contemporary music” this year, and some of the events will also be broadcast live on Red Bull Radio during the festival.

The first lineup and ticket details for Red Bull Music Academy Weekender and Road To Weekender will be revealed on 11th July, so stay tuned to Music Feeds for all the latest and peep the 2017 festival and national tour dates below.
