Sabrina Carpenter Releases New Single And Music Video For ‘Please Please Please’

American singer-songwriter Sabrina Carpenter drops her latest single “Please Please Please” on Thursday, June 6th. Sabrina’s boyfriend Irish actor Barry Keoghan is featured in the music video alongside her.

Taking back from the mega-success of the first single, “Espresso,” the pop singer teamed up with her boyfriend Barry for this second track from her upcoming sixth album, “Short n’ Sweet.” The album will be released on August 23.

“This project is quite special to me, and I hope it’ll be something special to you too,” the ‘Nonsense’ singer posted on her Instagram.

The music video follows Carpenter and her real-time boyfriend Barry in a Bonnie-Clyde-Inspired theme of romance amidst crime. In the storyline, Carpenter gets bailed out of prison only to witness her boyfriend, Barry Keoghan get locked in. “Please, please, please don’t bring me to tears when I just did my makeup so nice”. Sabrina pleads in the music video to not “prove her right” and to avoid embarrassing her.

The lyrics explore the complexities of loving someone who might not always make the best decisions. The song “Heartbreak is one thing my ego’s another” emphasises Carpenter’s desire to protect her relationship and pride.

The single features many Hollywood and pop culture references, the major being a tribute to Hollywood’s chaotic yet sensation couples like Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee, Sid and Nancy, and Madonna and Dennis Rodman. Besides, Carpenter’s outfits seem to take fashion inspiration from Britney Spears and Thurman’s iconic styles in “Pulp Fiction” and “Kill Bill: Volume 1.”

That said, “Please Please Please” is a visually and vocally stunning music video.
