San Cisco Share Buoyant New Single ‘On the Line’

Fremantle favourites San Cisco are following up their Flaws EP, released back in March, with a new single titled ‘On the Line’ that contrasts bright, buoyant instrumentals with contemplative, morose lyrics. It’s the first taste of the band’s forthcoming new album, the follow-up to 2017’s The Water.

Sonically, it’s a warm and jubilant track from the indie-pop trio that sees the band’s Jordi Davieson and Scarlett Stevens share vocal duties. Lyrically, ‘On the Line’ ponders the eternal conundrum of whether a love is worth pursuing.

“When do you pull the plug? How do you know if the juice is worth the squeeze?” explains Davieson of the song. “Do you pick up the pieces and move onto something new? Or stick it out for another round of romance? The game of love is never an easy one to play.”

The new single comes accompanied by a very wholesome clip, premiered via triple j earlier today, that sees the band reunite for the first time in months. The gang get back together for a rehearsal, after social distancing restrictions brought in to slow the spread of coronavirus, were eased in the band’s home state of Western Australia.
