Santana Backs Down After Saying Beyoncé Isn’t A Real “Singer” Like Adele

Carlos Santana has backed away from comments he made defending Adele‘s Album Of The Year win at the Grammy Awards, in which he suggested that Beyoncé isn’t a real singer.

Not even Adele thought she should’ve won the gong over Beyoncé, but Santana told AAP that Adele won because she’s a “singer, singer”, unlike Bey.

“I think that Adele won because she can sing, sing,” he said during an interview ahead of his upcoming trip to Australia.

“With all respect to our sister Beyoncé, Beyoncé is very beautiful to look at and it’s more like modelling kind of music — music to model a dress — she’s not a singer, singer, with all respect to her.”

He further said that Adele “doesn’t bring all the dancers and props, she can just stand there”.

Now, Santana taken to his Facebook to clarify his comments.

“My intent was to congratulate Adele on her amazing night at the Grammies,” he says.

“My comment about Beyoncé was regretfully taken out of context. I have the utmost respect for her as an artist and a person. She deserves all the accolades that come her way. I wish Beyoncé and her family all the best.”

It’s unlikely Santana will be quick to critique Beyoncé in the future, as the Beyhive unleashed on him pretty quickly after he took aim at their Queen…
