Selena Gomez Reveals She Has Thoughts About Retiring From Music

In a huge new feature with Vogue, Selena Gomez sat down with the magazine to dissect her activism, politics, faith, health, and her thoughts about her future in music. She touches on the potentiality of her retiring from music.

In the feature, she touches on her frustrations surrounding her music, stating that she does not understand why the impact of her music has not yet transcended her public persona.

“It’s hard to keep doing music when people don’t necessarily take you seriously,” she said.

In the same paragraph, she asks herself why she continues to make music, going on to say that “‘Lose You to Love Me’ I felt was the best song I’ve ever released, and for some people it still wasn’t enough.”

“I think the next time I do an album it’ll be different. I want to give it one last try before I maybe retire music.”

The journalist asks her about that statement and she responds that “I need to be careful.” She adds that she wants to spend more time producing and giving acting a real chance.

“I haven’t even touched the surface of what I want to do. The parts that I want are the ones I need help with. I can’t wait for the moment when a director can see that I’m capable of doing something that no one’s ever seen.”

Selena Gomez will release her first record sung entirely in Spanish, Revelacìon, this Friday.
