Sex Pistols have announced they will tour Australia in April 2025, with new frontman Frank Carter (of The Rattlesnakes) joining them. On the tour, the band will play their seminal 1977 album Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols in its entirety. The band’s reunion, sans Johnny Rotten, originally took place in August of 2024 – some 16 years after their last shows under the band moniker. They performed at the Bush Hall in Shepherds Bush, playing benefit shows to raise funds in support of the venue itself. Since then, the new-look Pistols have gone onto play several headlining shows and festivals across the UK.
Sex Pistols – ‘Anarchy In The UK’
Sex Pistols’ first – and, until now, only – Australian tour took place in 1996, and featured the band’s original line-up of Rotten, guitarist Steve Jones, bassist Glen Matlock and drummer Paul Cook. Reunions of this line-up would again take place in 2002, 2003, 2007 and 2008. Rotten would later have a falling out with his bandmates regarding the 2022 miniseries Pistol, which served as a biopic of sorts about the band and their original time together between 1975 and 1978. He attempted to block the use of the band’s music in the series, but was legally overruled by Jones, Matlock, Cook and the estate of the late Sid Vicious. Rotten has since returned to fronting Public Image Ltd.
Carter, meanwhile, was last in Australia in April 2024 with The Rattlesnakes. In a statement given upon the original announcement that he would be involved, Carter offered this succinct response: “When the Sex Pistols call, you answer.”

A pre-sale for the tour will take place from 11am local time on Wednesday, January 22nd. General sale will then follow on Thursday, January 23rd at 12pm local time. Both can be accessed via the tour’s official promoter, Live Nation Australia.
