Shady Nasty have officially announced their debut studio album, entitled Trek. The eight-track effort is set for independent release on Friday, February 21st in 2025, and serves as the follow-up to their second EP, 2021’s Clubsmoke. To coincide with the album’s formal announcement, the Sydney alternative/art-rock trio have shared a new single, entitled ‘Caredbrah’, which can be streamed below.
“[This song] reflects on a friendship between two kids headed down opposing paths,” wrote the band in a press statement explaining the origins of ‘Caredbrah’. “A decade later, one in an Armani suit at work drinks and the other smashing a servo pie for lunch, they still turn to each other for an honesty that newer friends fail to deliver.” The song’s music video was co-directed by drummer Luca Watson and collaborator Harry Welsh, and visualises what the band describe as “Shady Nasty’s Sydney”.
“Whether it be the ritual beauty of heavy exercise or of washing a beloved car in suburbia, the clip seeks solitude, real or imagined, that might reset and restore our mind,” they said. The music video for ‘Caredbrah’ can be viewed below.
