Slaves Dumped From Record Label Following Sexual Assault Allegations

CONTENT WARNING: The following story discusses allegations of sexual misconduct involving a minor, and sexual assault.

Slaves (the US post-hardcore band, not the UK duo) have been dropped from their record label, days after fresh allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced against frontman Jonny Craig.

Artery Recordings, a subsidiary of Warner, did not address the controversy directly, but took to Twitter to announce a decision to “part ways” with the band.

It comes after fresh allegations surfaced on social media against Craig, with one woman accusing him of soliciting nude photos from her when she was 16, and various former partners accusing him of sexual assault.

Slaves were embroiled in a controversy during the 2015 Warped Tour that saw them booted off the lineup amid allegations Craig had assaulted a female crew member.

The frontman later penned an emotional letter to fans addressing his behaviour and detailing his struggles with addiction following the band’s shock break-up in 2016. Not long after that, they got back together, released new music and toured Australia in August of this year.

These new allegations against Craig are the latest in an explosion of sexual misconduct claims to be levelled at men across the entertainment industry. In the past week alone, the music world has seen alleged victims come forward to level accusations of sexual misconduct against members of Brand New, Suicide Silence, Pierce The Veil, Austin Carlile and Sydney’s With Confidence, who’ve just been dropped from the lineup of UNIFY Gathering 2018.
