Brooklyn’s eardrum-pulverizing duo Sleigh Bells have revealed they are working on the follow-up to their acclaimed 2010 debut album, Treats.
Speaking in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine as they play a pair of high-profile shows in New York, band members Derek E. Miller and Alexis Krauss said they have been working on new material over the course of the past year while they have been touring Treats. The band were in Australia for shows in January.
In an interview that can be watched over at the Rolling Stone site, Miller said, “We’ve got a bunch of demos already and we’ll look to put it out early 2012. There was material left over from Treats, we didn’t even get to really finish it, we just had to leave. We’re not going to make that mistake again… I think the new stuff differs from Treats, it’s an emotionally really heavy record. Some of the stuff on Treats is party music and that’s definitely not the case with this one.”
“Even the early demos that we have now, a lot of the stuff that Derek has recorded, sounds more immense to me,” added vocalist Krauss. “It sounds really huge, so there’s going to still be tons of volume.”
