Slipknot haven’t released a studio album since 2014’s .5: The Gray Chapter, but a new social media post from the band and their frontman Corey Taylor has led many to believe the follow-up is coming next year.
Taylor posted a selfie on Instagram today with fellow Slipknot member Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan — who was rumoured to be leaving the band in 2017 — and captioned it simply, ‘2019’.
On top of that, Slipknot’s official Twitter account posted the same thing.

Naturally, fans across the Internet are absolutely losing it.
Only April and I’m already counting down the days until the new year. Thanks Corey.

This would be Slipknot’s first studio album in five years. Their last release was the live album Day of the Gusano: Live in Mexico, which arrived last year.
Earlier this year, Taylor told Musik Universe that the band would “definitely” be recording their next album in 2019, before getting “ready to go on the road”.
Taylor also revealed he had begun writing new Slipknot songs, including some of his most autobiographical lyrics in years.
