This really was bound to happen. As the country remains divided over the possibility of Taylor Swift landing in triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2014 countdown, despite never being played on the station, one Perth man has taken a novel approach to solve the dilemma, by mashing up previous Hottest 100 entries with actual Taylor Swift samples.
As reported by Faster Louder, according to the mixer, Jaymee Franchina, the Taylor Swift Vs Triple J Mixtape incorporates 100 sampled triple j songs that were voted into the Hottest 100 each year over the past 20 years with Taylor Swift vocals over the top.
“I have spent the last 72 hours with minimal sleep just so I could finish this crazy project that finally brings Taylor Swift & Triple J together in a unified & controversial mixtape that I can finally share with the world,” he writes introducing the tape on his Facebook page.
Sampled triple j tracks include Oasis’ Wonderwall, Nine Inch Nails’ Closer, Outkast’s Hey Ya, Daft Punk ft. Panda Bear’s Doin’ It Right, Gorillaz’s Clint Eastwood and The White Stripes’ My Doorbell mashed up with such Swift classics as We Are Never Getting Back Together, Mean, her cover of Vance Joy’s Riptide and of course the song of the hour Shake It Off.
“Personally, I love Taylor Swift and how she stands against bullying & all negativity posted within social media,” continues Franchina. “I would rather have her in the Triple J Hottest 100 then any arrogant producer that has made one good song & thinks that they have the right to be rude & obnoxious to others.
“Taylor Swift, you are a legend & it is on my bucket list to meet you. Hopefully this mixtape will put me one step forward in doing so, & to be honest, I think you sound great with any Triple J song.”
