Soundwave 2013 Lineup: The Fans Respond

…And the overwhelming majority seem to be screaming praise, rather than simply speaking it. It would appear Maddah has done it again, handing down a bill that would make festivals all over the world a tad threatened by Soundwave’s pulling power.

While festivals such as Download, Reading and Warped Tour will comprise of bands of the same stature, none of those festivals have had to bring them down to Australia, and tour them here, a feat Maddah himself put a ball park figure on of $36 million, not including sideshows.

Bringing Metallica down twice in the same 3-year period (which as far as I know has never happened before) and convincing Travis Barker (the survivor of a deadly plane crash) to get over his fear of flying, is something most people never achieve, but has been achieved under the watchful gaze of Soundwave. The list continues and literally does not peter out, not once. Each act is a strong addition to the lineup, which is all killer, no filler; funny that, seeing as Sum 41 will be performing also.

Fans were quick on the ol’ keyboard this morning, with a serious 98% approving viciously, 1.98% somewhat content but more so excited for the next announcement and probably I’d say 0.02 shutting down the lineup as total crap, and I’m sure the tickets will sell just fine without them anyway. There have even been notes from big-name bands who didn’t make the cut now wishing they did, A Day To Remember for example.

Soundwave 2013 Lineup:

Metallica, Linkin Park, Blink 182, A Perfect Circle, The Offspring, Paramore, Garbage, Tomahawk, Stone Sour, Kyuss Lives, Anthrax, Sum 41, Dragonforce, Flogging Molly, Ghost, Duff Mckagan’s Loaded, Motion City Soundtrack, Lawrence Arms, Kingdom of Sorrow, Fozzy, Sleeping With Sirens, Cancer Bats, Madball, Vision of Disorder, Pierce The Veil, Periphery, Shai Halud, Of Mice & Men, Miss May I, Woe Is Me, The Wonder Years, While She Sleeps, Such Gold, Lucero, Six Feet Under, Deaf Havana, Red Fang, Chunk! No Captain Chunk! Memphis May Fire

But, love it or hate it, the lineup is here to stay, albeit for the standard 1 or 2 drop outs/swaps that tend to happen when you organise a fest of this scale. Check out some of the fans responses below:
