South Australia’s Blackout Didn’t Stop A$AP Ferg From Crushing His Adelaide Listen Out Sideshow

Last night, South Australia experienced a state-wide power outage, so those with tickets to A$AP Ferg‘s Listen Out sideshow in Adelaide were likely expecting that they’d be looking for refunds as soon as power was restored.

Ferg wasn’t about to be put off by a little cyclonic storm though, taking to social media yesterday afternoon to announce “the show must continue black out or not bring your flash lights and meet me at The Gov,” tweeting again later that fans should bring “candles and flashlights”.

Ferg also uploaded a short video talking about the “crazy blackout”, and why the show was still to go ahead.

The Gov’s Facebook page confirmed that they had a generator for the gig, care of Apollo Lighting, and said the gig had the green light.

Despite roads being tricky to navigate given the lack of traffic lights, The Gov still reached capacity, reports The Music, while winds during the storm were apparently so harsh they could be heard during the warm-up set, but Ferg let fans know it was still on like Donkey Kong:

Ferg then performed to an amped crowd, before the power reportedly came back on during his last song.

“We had extra security on and made sure all out exits were up and running. Crowd safety was paramount to us,” The Gov’s Sarah Mooney told The Music. “Our full intention was to make it happen at whatever cost…Ferg was quite intent on performing and I think they dug the vibe of a blackout gig.”

Check out some footage from The Gov’s Facebook page of the show, below.
