While the IRL Splendour In The Grass is set to go ahead as usual this November, the festival has announced a special, virtual ‘XR’ version of the event to take place in late July – when the festival would usually go ahead.
But, it seems that the virtual event is pulling out all the stops for their XR lineup as some absolutely massive international acts are set to perform – including The Killers, Khalid, Grimes, Charli XCX and more.
Other international acts set to play the event are Phoebe Bridgers, Denzel Curry, Kaytranada, Little Simz and Band of Horses among others.
There’s also a slew of local acts playing the virtual festival as well, like Tash Sultana, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Violent Soho, Vera Blue, The Jungle Giants, Ziggy Ramo and plenty more.
What’s even better – every set is being put together specifically for this event, which means none of these performances have been seen before.
As opposed to some other virtual festivals, Splendour XR – happening on Saturday, 24th and Sunday, 25th July – will allow you to literally create your own avatar and meander your way through a re-imagined version of the IRL event.
It will be a ticketed event – with weekend tickets starting at $32.49 AUD – and available across a variety of platforms, like mobile, tablet, browser, desktop and VR.
Splendour XR feels like the perfect thing to tie you over until Splendour In The Grass makes its official return in November, with headliners The Strokes, Gorillaz and Tyler, The Creator.
