The official lineup for the Splendour In The Grass festival will be announced tomorrow morning. We’ll have news as soon as it hits, but for now there’s a few names we’re pretty sure are going to be on the bill.
Goldfrapp’s touring drummer accidentally mentioned that they’ll be heading down under for the festival, so they’re a lock.
Former Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft will play the festival with his new band The United Nations of Sound, a fact he has announced on his own official website.
The Pixies will be in Christchurch on the 1st August, and industry sources have suggested their attendance for a while, so it’s fairly likely they’ll be back in Australia.
The Strokes were one of the first names we heard mentioned with talk of the festival (and one of the first we fairly confidently nixed at the time), and with a couple of Australian tour dates at the end of July, it’s looking more likely that they’ll be showing up in Queensland.
Then there’s also The Temper Trap, 30 Seconds To Mars and Mumford and Sons, who are all touring the country suspiciously close to the announced date for Splendour too, so short of an official announcement tomorrow they’re looking fairly likely.
I’m still betting that LCD Soundsystem might appear on the lineup too, and maybe Hot Chip, but those two are still entirely unconfirmed at this late stage. We’ll have a full announcement as soon as we hear word tomorrow morning.
UPDATE: Sigur Rós front man Jonsi has just confirmed an Australian solo tour for August, so he might be heading to Splendour too.
