System Of A Down’s ‘Toxicity’ Briefly Vanished From Spotify & Fans Were Real Pissed

In a move that left fans questioning the system, System of a Down‘s iconic 2001 album Toxicity mysteriously disappeared from Spotify on April 30th.

While chart-toppers like ‘Chop Suey!’, ‘Toxicity’, and ‘Aerials’ remained available, they were oddly listed under a generic compilation entitled Rock Classico, sans the original album artwork. The rest of the album’s tracks were nowhere to be found though, triggering a loud outcry from fans online.

System Of A Down – ‘Toxicity’

“toxicity gone from spotify I feel like I just got my balls chopped off,” one poor heartbroken SOAD fan tweeted. While another vented: “WHY IS TOXICITY BY SYSTEM OF A DOWN GONE FROM SPOTIFY THIS IS THE WORST DAY EVER”.

Speculation ran rampant, with theories ranging from licensing issues to digital glitches.

Fortunately, by May 1st, Toxicity made its triumphant return to Spotify, with all the OG tracks and artwork restored.

The band has yet to comment on the brief disappearance, but fans are clearly relieved to have their fave album back. As one Reddit user aptly put it, “I can’t live without it! It’s like oxygen for me!”

It seems all is right in the System once more. Well, at least in terms of their old stuff… still a few internal issues preventing them from releasing new music.
