SZA Takes a Break from Live Performances

SZA, whose real name is Solána Rowe, has announced she is stepping away from live performances for the foreseeable future. The singer-songwriter made the announcement on X, revealing she won’t be booking any new gigs “for a while.”

“Yesterday was my last show for a while. Finally bout to get my life together thank u, God,” SZA wrote, signaling her decision to take a break.

SZA Stepping Back

SZA’s recent performance at the Osheaga festival in Montreal, Canada, was her final show before this hiatus. She has been busy with festival appearances across the U.S. and Europe in recent months, including a headlining set at Glastonbury in June.

The artist did not specify if she plans to work on new music during her break. In a previous interview with Variety, SZA shared insights into her creative process and her choice to focus on the “hidden aspects” of her life in her music. “There’s mad aspects to my life,” the 34-year-old singer said. “But people don’t really know that, because all I sing about are the hidden aspects that I think are more interesting. Honestly, I could write about jet-skiing with my friends, but I don’t want to make a song about that, and I don’t want to hear a song about it either.”

Fans will have to wait to see if SZA releases new music or announces further plans while she takes this break from performing.
